Recently, PowerChina Guizhou and the project owner representative, the State Power Investment Group Yellow River Upstream Hydropower Development Co., Ltd., signed the EPC contract for the Saudi Round 5 MAS and AHK2 photovoltaic power station projects in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This is the largest overseas project signed by PowerChina Guizhou in history.

Saudi Arabia's Round 5 Renewable Energy Program (NREP) has a total of 4 projects. The Saudi R5 photovoltaic project signed by PowerChina Guizhou covers two sub-projects, MAS project and AHK2 project, with a total installed capacity of 1.75GW. The construction content includes the design, procurement, construction, commissioning, operation and maintenance of photovoltaic power stations and supporting ancillary projects. Among them, the MAS project is located about 1.13 kilometers east of Dharghat Town, Hail Province, Saudi Arabia, with a total installed capacity of 1,250 megawatts. The AHK2 project is located about 36 kilometers southeast of Al Henakiyah Town, Medina Province, Saudi Arabia, with a total installed capacity of 500 megawatts.

This project is the first cooperation between PowerChina Guizhou and domestic and foreign companies such as State Power Investment Corporation and EDF Electricité de France in the high-end market in the Middle East. The successful signing of the project is the fruitful result of PowerChina Guizhou's firm implementation of the "double sea" strategy of offshore wind power in overseas business and its deep cultivation of the Middle East new energy market. It will further enhance the brand awareness of China Power Construction and consolidate PowerChina Guizhou's position as an EPC general contractor in the Middle East photovoltaic industry.

PowerChina Guizhou stated at the signing ceremony that it will give full play to the advantages of large-scale photovoltaic project construction, and rely on professional technical teams and rigorous management systems to ensure high-quality project performance. At the same time, it will strengthen exchanges and cooperation with all parties involved in the project construction, fully guarantee the smooth implementation of the project, and make it a star project in the Saudi market, contributing to the energy cooperation between China and Saudi Arabia and Saudi Arabia's clean energy transformation.

It is reported that after the completion of the project, it will produce 4.4 billion kilowatt-hours of clean electricity each year, provide green and stable clean energy for about 550,000 households in the area, and reduce 2.88 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions, helping Saudi Arabia achieve the goal of "building a new national energy system that is clean, low-carbon, safe and efficient" in the 2030 Vision.
