To drive the year-end sprint and solidify the "Overseas and Offshore Strategy" as a core pillar of the company, the Chairman of PowerChina Guizhou Engineering Co., LTD (hereinafter called PCG), Guo Wei, traveled to South Africa from December 17 to December 23, local time. During the visit, he conducted a series of business activities, including meetings with local energy companies and partners, as well as site inspections of key projects.

Strengthening Partnerships with Pragmatic Actions

On the international front, Guo Wei met with South African stakeholders and partners, including the Central Energy Fund (CEF), Infinity Power, and Enpower. These meetings highlighted the company’s strong performance and market capabilities, which were highly recognized by the participants. On the domestic collaboration side, Guo Wei engaged with enterprises such as Huawei, CGN (China General Nuclear Power Group), and Sungrow. The discussions focused on deepening cooperation in the South African market and exploring diversified collaboration models for renewable energy projects. Guo Wei emphasized that PCG possesses robust performance capabilities in South Africa and will continue to strengthen its presence, deepen partnerships, and provide strong support for the development of the South African renewable energy sector.

Enhancing Project Management with Determined Efforts

Guo Wei conducted an on-site inspection of the 123 MW Damlaagte and 67MW Ilikwa photovoltaic projects in South Africa, reinforcing management practices by attending a project cost analysis meeting and conducting a comprehensive safety and construction assessment on-site. He outlined requirements for the next steps based on three key elements:

1. Cost Management: Enhance contract execution by reviewing profit points and potential cost risks, recovering project schedule deviations promptly, and driving project construction with a focus on profitability.

2. Profit Management: Overseas operations must prioritize profitability. Key profit points should be closely monitored, and "secondary operations" should be conducted across all aspects of project management, generating profit through design optimization and improved management.

3. Schedule Management: Meeting construction milestones is the cornerstone of cost control. Profitability and cost management are contingent on timely project completion, and the project team must ensure absolute commitment to meeting schedules.

Strengthening Regional Presence with Resilience

Guo Wei also met with Liu Kai, head of PowerChina East & Southern Africa, to provide a detailed overview of PCG’s work in South Africa. He emphasized that South Africa is a key region for the company, and efforts will be intensified to expand operations, delivering high-quality projects and strong profitability to support the broader development strategy of the parent company.

“Where two oceans meet, waves command. At the Cape of Good Hope, sails span afar.” As the company pursues its strategic vision, it will employ a combination of pragmatic, determined, and resilient efforts to establish a lasting foothold in the South African market. With perseverance and dedication, PCG is poised to ride the waves of opportunity and anchor itself firmly in the promising South African market.
